Pyongyang, January 1 (KCNA) -- The Chinese paper Huan Qiu Shibao carried an article introducing the art of the DPRK on December 24 illustrated with a painting depicting leader Kim Jong Il.

The paper said the Korean paintings reflect a strong sense of national identity and the characteristics of the times. The article went on:

A lot of people are mesmerized by Korean paintings.

The fine art pieces of the DPRK put emphasis on realism.

The characteristics of the Korean paintings are vivid depiction of mountains, water, flowers, birds, figures and objects at rest.

Painters of the DPRK are enthusiastic about creating art pieces associated with scenic spots, construction sites and spirit of the times.

They are also interested in portraying women and children.

Those who enter the room where art works are on display will soon feel like they are visiting the hall exhibiting the history of the Korean revolution and successes made in the present age.

Those pictures include images of brave soldiers making a dash amid flames in battlefield and smelters producing steel in single mind with all their efforts.

The Korean paintings are very attractive among foreigners as they are clear about the characteristics of the times.
