Kim Jong Il's Feats for Army Building in DPRK
Pyongyang, December 24 (KCNA) -- Today marks the 22nd anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's assumption of supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army (KPA).

On the anniversary, all servicepersons and civilians of the DPRK recall with deep emotion the undying feats he performed in leading the Songun revolution.

Kim Jong Il was appointed to the KPA supreme commandership at the 19th Plenary Meeting of the 6th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea on December 24, Juche 80 (1991).

Since then, he had pursued on a full scale the Songun (military-first) politics for two decades, thus performing great exploits to be recorded in the history of building the Juche-based revolutionary armed forces.

With his visit to the Dwarf Pine Post in January 1995, he always found himself among the servicepersons, sometimes inspecting frontline and island posts and sometimes mounting warships, planes and tanks to guide military trainings.

His military inspection ceaselessly continued despite bad weather conditions, reaching to all places where soldiers are standing in the country.

His journey of Songun guidance totaled a course of over 10,000 km in 1996, 12,000 km in 1997 and 16,000 km in 1998.

He visited more than 2,490 military units until the last moments of his life.

His energetic Songun leadership turned the KPA into invincible armed forces with powerful offensive and defensive means and all the servicepersons into stalwart combatants ready to defend their supreme commander with their lives.
