Layoff of Part-time Teachers Protested in S. Korea
Pyongyang, December 22 (KCNA) -- The Korea University branch of the south Korean part-time teachers' union, together with members of civil and social bodies and lawmakers in Kwangju, held a news conference in protest against the wholesale layoff of part-time teachers in the university.

The speakers said that the university side is going to fire a large number of part-time teachers under the pretext of the management issue.

They urged the management side to explain why they must be laid off.

They noted that the unilateral attitude to lay off those, far from taking good care of them, would come under fire by people.

The press release read out at the press conference noted that although the part-timers account for half the number of the teachers of the university, they are not allowed to stand on the platform to teach students.

They urged the management side to stop such a discriminative act.

It urged the puppet Ministry of Education to grant those part-timers the right as full-time teachers.
