DPRK Sees Achievements in Bionics
Pyongyang, December 12 (KCNA) -- The Bioengineering Branch of the State Academy of Sciences in the DPRK has made successes in scientific researches.

Genome scientists succeeded in developing DNA microarray for detection of pathogenic microorganism in water and food, DNA microarray for detection of M. tuberculosis and non-M. tuberculosis microorganism and DNA microarray for detection of M. tuberculosis resistant to drug.

Micro-bionics scientists succeeded in developing Interleukin-2 (IL-2), paving a way for preventing cancer with immunity agents.

Meanwhile, they developed a technology of separated cultivation of species of stem cells, including mesencymal stem cell as well as a technology of grafting dwarf apples on the basis of tissue culture.

Kye In Chol, vice chief of the Bioengineering Branch, told KCNA:

The branch is now faced with many things to be settled in agriculture, fishing farming, public health and other fields.

Its scientists are sure to settle all of them since they are in high spirits to take the lead in developing up-to-the-minute technologies.
