Repeal of SL Called for in S. Korea
Pyongyang, December 6 (KCNA) -- The south Korean internet newspaper Voice of People posted an article demanding the abrogation of the "Security Law" (SL) on Dec. 2.

65 years have passed since the evil law was fabricated, the article said, adding:

The SL is a copy of the "Maintenance of the Public Order Act", a tool for suppressing the independence movement in the period of the Japanese imperialists' colonial rule over Korea, and the one which was retrogressively revised to include even clauses of the "Anti-communist Law" of the Chun Doo Hwan military fascist regime. It has been invoked to indiscriminately crack down on the movements for democracy and national reunification in south Korea.

This law is still applied for suppressing progressive personages. A typical example of this is the fact that the prosecution is working hard to suppress a father of the Jonju Parish Priests Group of the south Korean Catholic Priests' Council for Justice on charge of violation of the SL for the mere reason that he urged the present regime which seized power through fraudulent election to step down.

It is a shame, indeed, that the SL remains in force, the article stressed.
