Japanese Reactionaries Accused of Moving to Distort History Textbooks
Pyongyang, December 5 (KCNA) -- The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan recently decided to reset the standard of screening textbooks of social subjects for primary, middle and high schools. This reportedly followed the reform proposal of the Liberal Democratic Party in which it described the Nanjing massacre by the Japanese imperialists in China and sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army as unfair, and the government "viewpoint" on the historical fact of modern and contemporary history.

Rodong Sinmun Thursday says in a commentary in this regard:

This proves that the Japanese conservative ruling quarters are trying to write off the already existing data, far from admitting the crimes against humanity committed by the Japanese imperialists in the past.

Gravity of the issue is that the moves to rewrite the textbooks are now underway neither by individual opinion nor by coercion by any force but by the order of the government, and that the conservative forces trumpeted about "respect for opinion" and "step pursuant to viewpoint" to side with it.

Japan is rushing headlong into the road for militarization and veering to the Right. It was against this backdrop that the Liberal Democratic Party and the government officials started the offensive for distorting history textbooks, an act which can not be overlooked.

The Japanese reactionaries are unanimously denying the crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists in the past including the sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army and are trying to distort history textbooks, an indication that the whole of Japan has entered the stage of advance preparation for building the state system and creating a social atmosphere for reinvasion.

Their desperate moves are aimed to make younger generation maniacs who have no guilty conscience and are obsessed by expansionism.

Explicitly speaking, the shameless act of the Japanese reactionaries to evade the blame for the past crimes will add to the crimes already committed by Japan.

To make a serious apology, reflection and reparation for the crime-woven history will be beneficial to Japan.
