KCNA Commentary Denounces U.S. Dangerous Arms Buildup
Pyongyang, December 4 (KCNA) -- The U.S. is getting ever more undisguised in its moves to deploy latest weapons and equipment and troops in the Asia-Pacific region.

It is mulling deploying latest sea patrol plane P-8A Poseidon in Japan for the first time and MV-22 Osprey on Guam.

It was reported that stealth destroyer DDG-1000 would belong to the U.S. Pacific Fleet and operate soon in Pacific waters and MH-60 naval choppers and Virginia-class attack submarines in Hawaii would be deployed.

It was also reported that the U.S. Navy would increase the present number of Aegis ships 26 to 36 by 2018 and deploy most of them in this region and that the U.S. Army is examining the introduction of the THAAD using missiles with longer range and higher altitude interception capability than PAC-3.

What matters is that, timed to coincide with these military moves, brass hats of the U.S. are vying with each other to vociferate about the theory of "threat from north Korea".

The U.S. secretary of Defense at the 2013 World Security Forum blustered that north Korea poses the most complicated and provocative threat and the chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff uttered that the north's threat is a matter of greatest concern in Asia.

The commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet openly cried out for coping with "north Korea's missile and nuclear threats" with strong deterrence.

This is, in fact, sheer sophism and nothing but a brigandish claim reminiscent of "the guilty party filing the suit first".

Who threats whom?

Now U.S. nuclear powered aircraft carriers and many other warships, fighters and nuclear weapons are deployed in the Asia-Pacific region. More than 280 000 U.S. troops are deployed there, the biggest military presence in the world. It is quite clear that they are the main factor of extremely escalating the tension in the region including the Korean Peninsula.

The DPRK's deterrence for self-defense serves as a treasured sword to protect the sovereignty of the country and security of the people from the U.S. moves to militarily stifle the DPRK and its ambition for world domination. It threatens nobody unless its sovereignty and security are infringed upon.

It has already declared this several times and it is firmly preserving the principle at present.

Nevertheless, the U.S. is desperately floating the fiction about "threat from north Korea". This is nothing but a crafty ploy to cover up its true colors as the arch criminal rendering the regional situation unstable and create an environment favorable for carrying out its pivot to Asia-Pacific strategy.

The U.S. arms buildup is part of its pivot to Asia-Pacific policy to establish its domination and control over the region by dint of its military and nuclear supremacy.

It is pushing forward the massive deployment of the armed forces, prompted by its scenario to contain the "dangerous forces" challenging it in the region and maintain and strengthen its military supremacy.

The U.S. arms buildup is sparking off strong caution among China, Russia and other regional countries as it is the root cause of a new Cold War.

The U.S. is the very arch criminal threatening the regional peace and stability.

The U.S. would be well advised to stop such arms buildup.
