Bentall Surgery Succeeded in DPRK
Pyongyang, November 29 (KCNA) -- A surgical operation for curing Marfan syndrome (Bentall surgery) proved successful at Kim Man Yu Hospital in the DPRK.

The syndrome is known as one of cardiac vessel diseases.

In this regard, Jo Kwang Ho, chief of cardiosurgery of the hospital, told KCNA:

The hospital carried out the surgery in its own way.

It was three years ago that patient Ri Kwang Il, a Pyongyang citizen, had shown symptoms of Marfan syndrome like abnormities in eyes, skeleton structure and blood circulation.

The abnormity in blood circulation may lead to the rupture of main artery.

The Bentall surgery for Marfan syndrome requires high-level medical skills and up-to-date medical checkup facilities.

We had rounds of medical consultations on the patient's disease, before coming to agreement to apply an advanced cardiac surgical method of few complications.

The surgery took several hours.

The patient recovered from the disease after 20 days of hospitalization.

Ri Kwang Il said:

The free medical care system in the country provided me with free surgery and hospitalization.

I have no sequelae until now after surgery. And I am playing table tennis, volleyball and others.

I will do my best for our superior socialist system.
