U.S. Deprived of Right to Vote in UNESCO
Pyongyang, November 15 (KCNA) -- The UNESCO recently deprived the U.S. of its right to vote in the body.

This was the just and decisive step taken by the UNESCO against the U.S. denial of paying its contribution as a member nation since 2011 as retaliation against the body's approval of Palestine's membership.

As soon as the step of the UNESCO was announced, a spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State said that Washington intends to continue its engagement with the UN agency "in every possible way," and President Barack Obama remains committed to seeking Congressional approval for making continued payments to UN agencies that accepted Palestine a member state.

It was calculation of the U.S. that the UNESCO dared not deprive it of the right to vote in consideration of the face of "the world's only superpower." It has become a laughing stock of world people as the situation developed to such pass.

The behavior of the U.S. is quite understandable as it seceded from the UNESCO in the 1980s in protest against the body's failure to follow Washington's will but it reentered the body in 2003, lost to shame.

Deplorable is the position of the U.S. in the UNESCO as it has no right to vote.

Sure enough, concerns and grievances were heard from the U.S. administration.

Finally, the U.S. has found itself in such poor situation as it tried to force the UNESCO to follow its will.

Gone are days never to return when the U.S. could ride roughshod in the international arena.

The U.S. would be well advised to behave itself in the international community, awake from the anachronistic daydream of "the world's only superpower.
