About 260 students from 40 universities competed in the contest, held divided into individual and team events.

In the individual event, students from Kim Chaek University of Technology won special prize, while those from Pyongyang University of Mechanical Engineering and Pyongyang University of Printing finished first respectively.

In the team event, Kim Chaek University of Technology won special prize, while the first prize went to Hamhung University of Chemical Engineering, Wonsan University of Fisheries, Chongjin University of Mining and Metallurgy and Pyongyang University of Mechanical Engineering.

In the college contest, Pyongyang College of Building-materials and Pyongyang College of Designing came first in machine designing, while the latter also finished first in architectural designing.
