Legends about Mt. Kumgang (1)
Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- The world-famous Mt. Kumgang in the DPRK boasts of a number of legends well known among the local people.

One of them tells about eight fairies of Mt. Kumgang.

One day a young man came to save a deer from the chase of a hunter, when he was gathering firewood in Mt. Kumgang.

In order to repay his favor, the deer let him know the day when the fairies used to take a bath in the eight ponds of the mountain, and told him to hide away a celestial robe of one of the eight fairies.

The day came. He did as told by the deer when the fairies were taking a bath.

The fairy who lost her robe could not fly back to heaven but left in the mountain.

Later, she married the young man and enjoyed a happy life together with him.

One day years later, the man told his wife about her robe.

Getting her robe back, the fairy was so sick for her parents and sisters as to fly back to heaven with her children.

Later, the deer helped the man go up to heaven to reunite with his family. But they could not put Mt. Kumgang out of their minds, so that they descended again to the mountain.
