The championship brought together at least 310 weightlifters from 59 countries and regions of the world. DPRK player Om Yun Chol placed the first in a total point at the men's 56 kg category and other players bagged gold, silver and bronze medals.

The players were greeted at Pyongyang Railway Station by Mun Kyong Dok, officials concerned and families of the players.

Sportspersons welcomed with bouquets and garlands the players and coaches who came back after displaying the honor of the country, and congratulated them on their successes.
