Memorial Service for Korean Victims in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan Held
Pyongyang, October 29 (KCNA) -- A joint memorial service of compatriots in Kanagawa for Korean victims was held in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan on October 20.

Present there were Ri Yong Hun, chairman of the Kanagawa Prefectural Headquarters of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), chairpersons of its various branches, compatriots and bereaved families.

Kim Yong Jae, vice-chairman of the Tsurumi Branch of Chongryon, made a memorial address.

He said that so many Koreans met grievous deaths not only in the great Kanto quake but also in military bases, munitions factories, mines and construction sites in Kanagawa Prefecture during the colonial rule by the Japanese imperialists.

All the Chongryon officials and Koreans in the prefecture will never pardon the Japanese government, which has made desperate efforts to tamper with history and frantically pursued the hostile policy toward the DPRK while evading the responsibility for the past crimes even in the new century, he noted.

He declared that Koreans in Japan would carry on their actions until the Japanese government makes an apology and reparation for the past wrongdoings.

The participants observed a moment's silence in memory of the victims.
