S. Korean Regime's Distortion of History under Fire
Pyongyang, October 24 (KCNA) -- The south Korean newspaper Hangyore on Tuesday editorially denounced the puppet group for its moves to have textbooks rewritten to distort history.

The editorial said:

The puppet Ministry of Education instructed publishing houses to modify and supplement 829 descriptions in eight kinds of history textbooks for higher schools on October 21.

These textbooks were screened by the puppet Committee for Compiling National History in August and they are peppered with the contents openly beautifying the pro-Japanese acts and dictatorship of Syngman Rhee and Park Chung-Hee.

As soon as the protest was voiced by people of various circles as regards the screening by the said committee, the puppet ministry declared that it would pick up misinformation and wrong descriptions and expressions.

So the instruction was issued to modify and supplement the textbooks this time but it included nothing related to the successive dictators.

Conveying this fact, the editorial held that if history is distorted and even the contents of the textbooks are altered for a political purpose, it is impossible to prevent the repetition of conflicting assertions about history.
