With the total floor space of more than 6 100 square meters the institute has all necessary conditions for research and solid groundwork for putting the production of mushroom on an industrial and scientific basis and producing more delicious mushroom of high nutritious value.

To put the production of mushroom on an industrial and scientific basis is a plan unfolded by the Workers' Party of Korea for improving the diet of the Korean people.

The institute was built in less than three months thanks to the devoted efforts made by the soldier-builders.

Not only different research rooms, labs and mushroom growing grounds but offices, walkways linking the main building with auxiliary one, vestibule, resting place, etc. have been built in such a way as to be impeccable.

The dust free institute has introduced the heating system with the use of geotherm and has been equipped with the latest scientific research facilities and all the conditions for successfully conducting the researches for cultivation of the mushroom.

A room for preserving spore of different species of mushroom, cultivation research room, a substrate research room, a scientific and experimental laboratory, a growth and species verification room and other laboratories show the high level of the institute.

At the intermediary plant for the production of the fungus and substrate and mushroom cultivation rooms providing conditions necessary for mushroom cultivation by automatically adjusting the temperature, humidity, content of carbon dioxide and light in cultivation greenhouses, researchers can confirm the practical data for putting the production of mushroom on an industrial and scientific basis.

Spores of mushroom whose species have been researched and fixed are being supplied to all mushroom cultivation bases across the country according to their seasonal and regional characters and they can contribute to raising the wind of mushroom production.

The institute has an e-library, a room for scientific and technological seminar, reading room, scientific information room and a room for distributing new technology.
