DPRK's Om Yun Chol Takes World's Weightlifting Title
Pyongyang, October 22 (KCNA) -- Om Yun Chol of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea took the title in the men's 56 kg division in the 2013 World Weightlifting Championship now under way in Poland.

On Monday, he won two gold medals and one silver by snatching 127 kg and jerking 162 kg, 289 kg in total.

The finals in the 56 kg division were contested between Om and a Chinese rival.

The Chinese rival took the lead in the snatch event with 130 kg.

But in the jerk event, Om lifted 162 kg, 5 kg more than that of his rival, emerging victorious in the division.

In the London Olympic Games, Om set a new Olympic record in the men's 56 kg division by jerking 168 kg, thrice his body-weight.

He snatched a gold medal in the 2011 World Junior Weightlifting Championship.

In the 2013 Asian Weightlifting Championship, he took the first both in the snatch and jerk events in his category.

He broke the world's record in the jerk event by lifting 169 kg in the 2013 Asian Cup and Interclub Junior and Senior Weightlifting Championship held in Pyongyang in September.

DPRK's Ryang Chun Hwa also bagged three silver medals in the women's 48 kg category.
