U.S. Forces' Serious Environmental Pollution in S. Korea
Pyongyang, October 21 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialist aggressor forces' environmental pollution poses a serious problem in south Korea.

The results of the survey of underground water around the U.S. military base in Ryongsan, Seoul showed it contained carcinogen more than 1 300 times the tolerable limit.

Due to the expansion of the polluted area toxic substance was detected even in the area 1.5 km from the Han River.

More than ten years have passed since the leak of oil from the above-said base in 2001 but this leak has continued still now, polluting underground water and soil near it. The U.S. forces, however, have not taken any measure.

The Seoul City authorities repeatedly urged the U.S. forces to cooperate in the fact-finding survey of the cause of the pollution in the base but they turned down all these demands.

The authorities have failed to hold the U.S. forces accountable for this pollution as they are subject to the unequal SOFA.
