Rodong Sinmun Urges Japan Not to Sidestep Issue of Its Sexual Slavery
Pyongyang, October 21 (KCNA) -- Shortly ago, the State Archives in Tokyo opened to public the document proving the sexual slavery enforced by the Japanese imperialists in the past. The document titled "BC class Batavia trial No. 106 case" records the course of trial of five officers of the Imperial Japanese Army and statements made by the criminals in Indonesia after the end of World War II.

Rodong Sinmun Monday observes in a commentary in this regard:

It is not the first time that data were disclosed to prove that the Japanese government organized and enforced the sexual slavery in the past.

The fact that the Japanese imperialists drafted and abducted 200 000 Korean women and took them to shambles of war, forcing them into sexual slavery, was disclosed before the world by testimonies made by victims.

The fact that the Japanese imperialists' sexual slavery was a hideous crime against humanity is the undeniable historical truth.

When many countries including even its allies chided Japan for its sexual slavery, it persistently denied and justified it, regarding the criticism as unfair.

Clear is its ulterior aim. Japan is taking pains to cover up its crimes against humanity at any cost and thus shun the state reparation for them.

Japan is a criminal state which brought unspeakable misfortunes and pain to the people of many countries including Korea. It is the unavoidable state responsibility and moral duty for a criminal state to make apology and reparation for victims in the light of international law and ethics and morality.

What the international community urges Japan to do as regards the crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists is to make an honest apology and reparation to the victims including the DPRK. This is the only option for Japan.
