Yun began wrestling at Unjon County Juvenile Sports School in North Phyongan Province when he was 12 years old.

He started his career as a member of the April 25 Sports Team in Juche 94 (2005) and has since made good results in national and international tournaments.

From 2008, he has won gold medals in domestic tournaments including the Mangyongdae Prize Sports Games. And he proved successful in the international wrestling tournament "Dan Kolov-Nikolai Petrov" this year and the 2013 Asian Wrestling Championship.

Yun is now training hard to steadily improve his wrestling technique and skills. He told KCNA that he would display the dignity and honor of Songun Korea with more gold medals.
