Foreign Media Reports Statement of Spokesman for DPRK NDC
Pyongyang, October 14 (KCNA) -- Foreign media reported the statement made by the spokesman for the DPRK National Defence Commission on Oct. 12 and 13.

The Chinese Xinhua said that the spokesman for the DPRK National Defence Commission in a statement demanded the U.S. drop its hostile policy towards the DPRK and measures to isolate, stifle and blockade it.

It quoted the spokesman as saying:

The denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula is the consistent policy goal set forth by the DPRK government.

The U.S. should clearly understand the meaning of the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

It calls for the denuclearization of the whole Korean Peninsula including south Korea.

The U.S. should no longer talk about dialogue and improvement of relations with preconditions nor maintain the brigandish insistence that non-aggression is possible only when the DPRK dismantles its nuclear weapons first.

It said that the spokesman stressed only when the U.S. makes a policy switchover by withdrawing all the measures it has taken to isolate and stifle the DPRK, can peace and security not only on the Korean Peninsula but in the U.S. mainland be guaranteed.

ITAR-TASS reported as follows:

The statement of the spokesman for the DPRK NDC noted that the U.S. proposal for non-aggression cannot guarantee peace and security on the Korean Peninsula but the nuclear-armed revolutionary forces for self-defence of the DPRK can defend and guarantee everything.

The statement said that the DPRK is not the small and weak country which used to be in the past and the U.S. should withdraw its sanctions against the DPRK first and made a bold decision to immediately halt all provocations including war drills with various missions.

Ria-Novosti News Agency of Russia, the Fars News Agency and Press TV of Iran, AP, UPI, VOA and the British paper Daily Telegraph also reported the statement of the spokesman of the DPRK NDC.
