Kim Jong Un Watches Final Matches in Field of Popular Sports
Pyongyang, October 10 (KCNA) -- Final matches of various events in the field of popular sports of the National Sports Contest of Provincial Teams took place with splendor at the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium Thursday on the significant occasion of the 68th anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea. It has been under way since October 1 here.

Supreme leader Kim Jong Un together with Ri Sol Ju appeared in the grandstand.

Among the spectators were Pak Pong Ju, Choe Ryong Hae, Jang Song Thaek, Kim Ki Nam, Pak To Chun, Kang Sok Ju, Kim Won Hong, Kim Yang Gon, Kim Phyong Hae, Mun Kyong Dok, Ro Tu Chol, Choe Pu Il, Jo Yon Jun and Thae Jong Su and chief secretaries of the WPK Provincial Committees, officials of the party, armed forces, ministries and national institutions, those in the fields of science, education and sports, members of cheering groups from each province, people from all walks of life and youth and students in the city.

Women's volleyball finals took place between the teams of South Phyongan Province and Nampho City.

When players gained successive points through prompt and strong smashes and light touches, the spectators enthusiastically cheered and applauded.

The match ended in the victory of the team of South Phyongan Province.

Then followed folk sports and amusement games.

Teams of North Phyongan and South Hamgyong Provinces played breath-taking final Ssirum matches, displaying admirable technique.

The team of North Phyongan Province placed first in the event.

The team of South Hwanghae Province came first in running with balls in arms and on head while the team of Nampho City placed first in the relay race.

The contest reached the climax in the final tug of war event held on the same day.

Players of the teams of North Phyongan and Jagang Provinces powerfully demonstrated the unity and team spirit in the final tug of war event by displaying their stubborn will and perseverance.

The team of North Phyongan Province beat its rival.

Kim Jong Un clapped his hands whenever they played good games in sky-high spirit.

Team standings were announced and prizes were awarded to the successful teams.

South Phyongan Province came first in the team standing.

At the end of the contest Kim Jong Un waved back to the enthusiastic cheers of the players and spectators.

He expressed great satisfaction over the successful contest, underscoring the need to regularly organize the similar contest in the future and channel efforts into folk sports so as to help everybody make a positive contribution to labor and national defence with strong physical body.
