The championships include 30-odd sports events, including basketball, volleyball, ping-pong, weightlifting, wrestling and archery, whose competitions take place in the capital city of Pyongyang and provinces.

The division-1 football matches are underway on a round-robin basis.

In Thursday football match at Kim Il Sung Stadium, Kigwancha Team beat Rimyongsu Team 1:0 in the men's event. In women's event Amnokgang Team defeated Pyongyang Team 3:0 and Wolmido Team beat Ponghwasan Team 1:0.
