Saying that to build the market is needed for the people to enjoy a pleasant time on holidays and Sundays, having roast meet and skewered stuff taken with wine, he selected the site of the Kyonghung Restaurant.

He told officials to build the restaurant as one-storied buildings for people's convenience so that they could take anytime such dishes as roast meet, beer and pancakes.

In September Juche 76 (1987) when the construction of the restaurant was completed, the leader toured its establishments, including chophouse and wedding house, expressing great satisfaction.

He sent cars to the restaurant for weddings and saw to it that cooks of the restaurant were dispatched abroad to learn advanced cookeries.

He also took measures to provide the restaurant with raw materials and other supplies for its normal operation.

Later, he suggested building beer houses in different parts of Pyongyang, including the restaurant, which serve the people with different kinds of beer.

Thanks to his loving care, the Kyonghung Restaurant turned into a popular catering service center frequented by citizens.
