DPRK Weightlifter Breaks World Record

| Pyongyang, September 16 (KCNA) -- DRPK weightlifter Om Yun Chol set a new world record in the fourth-day competitions at the 2013 Asian Cup and Interclub Junior and Senior Weightlifting Championship going on here. On Sunday, he lifted 120 kg in snatch, 169 kg in clean-and-jerk in the 56 kg category, winning three gold medals with a total of 289 kg. He broke the world record of 168 kg in jerk, set by a Turkish weightlifter in 2001. He had already set an Olympic record by lifting 168 kg in jerk at the 30th Olympic Games. |
