Ryugyong Jong Ju Yong Gymnasium was packed with Pyongyangites who came to see games of strong Asians on Sunday.

Om Yun Chol set a new world record in 169 kg jerk event at the Asian interclub senior weightlifting championship through the combination of quick snatch and jerk. He set an Olympic record in the 56 kg category at the 30th Olympic Games last year and won a gold medal.

He took the first place in the total standing by succeeding 120 kg in snatch.

Ryang Chun Hwa and Jong Chun Mi also emerged winners in total points in senior women's 48 kg and 58 kg categories.

Sin Chol Bom and Kim Chun Mi bagged gold medals in senior men's 56 kg category and women's 58 kg category (in snatch and jerk events respectively).

Cha Kum Chol who won a title in the World Weightlifting Championship showed his power as a strongman. He took the first place in snatch and jerk events by demonstrating tremendous strength in senior men's 62 kg category to win admiration of the spectators.

Ri Jong Hwa and Ryo Un Hui came first in total standings in the 63 kg and 69 kg categories in senior women's weightlifting events.

Jo Pok Hyang also emerged a winner in senior women's 69 kg category (in snatch and jerk events respectively).
