The contest drew more than 130 players from the capital city of Pyongyang and provinces of the country.

Son Kwang Chol, a 23-year-old worker from South Hwanghae Province, took the first place in the catch-weight event of the contest, becoming the owner of the grand bull prize. In Juche 101 (2012) he made his debut at the annual contest to rank among the eight strongmen.

After winning a 1,000 kg bull and a golden cowbell, Son told KCNA: This honor goes to all the people of the country, and I have nothing to desire if it brings delight to my provincial inhabitants.
