Hot Wind for Sports Runs High in DPRK
Pyongyang, September 2 (KCNA) -- Hot wind for sports is running high in the DPRK.

There took place in August the men's premier soccer matches for torch cup, the first national Taekwon-do all-star contest for Jonsung cup and other sports events of sportspersons, the national workers sports contest, the Pyongyang students sports contest for marking the Youth Day, the swimming competition of officials of commissions, ministries and national institutions and other amateur sports contests.

Sports activities are brisk with the August-September months of the people's physical strength examination as a momentum.

Diverse sports facilities built at many units across the country are available for officials and other people and school youth and children.

Ministries and national institutions had the 18th Paektusan Prize Sports Contest among their officials and other sports events, contributing to raising the hot wind for sports across the country.

Sports activities are also brisk at industrial establishments, cooperative farms and construction sites.

Students of universities, colleges and secondary and primary schools are conducting brisk sports activities.

Schools in Wonsan, Phyongsong and Sinuiju cities and Kyongsong and Mundok counties and other cities and counties are successful in teaching students how to swim. River-crossing contests are widely organized.

Parks and recreation grounds in Pyongyang are alive with basketball, volleyball and tennis games of working people and roller skating of school youth and children.
