Rodong Sinmun Calls on NAM to Remain True to Its Mission
Pyongyang, September 2 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun in an article Monday refers to important issues in strengthening the non-aligned movement (NAM), 52 years since its emergence.

The NAM has to fight against the imperialists to honor its mission and duty, the article says, and goes on:

The imperialists have become all the more reckless in their moves to undermine and break down the movement. This urgently calls upon the NAM countries to strengthen the unity and solidarity than ever before on the basis of independence.

Only when its member nations cooperate with each other in unity on the basis of independence will the might of NAM grow stronger, making it invincible.

It is necessary for it to sharpen vigilance against bourgeois ideological and cultural poisoning and resolutely fight against it. It is also important for it to boost South-South cooperation and make big effort to increase defense capacity on the principle of collective self-reliance.

It must struggle to abolish the unfair and outdated international order and establish a new fair one. This is essential requirement in maintaining independence and holding the initiatives in resolving the international issues.

Whether the NAM creditably fulfills its honorable mission and duty or not in the future depends on how its member nations make efforts to strengthen the movement.

It is a strong desire of mankind to strengthen and develop the movement and realize independence of the world so as to live in the peaceful world without war.

It is the steadfast stance of the DPRK to fight it out to realize this.

The country will do its best for the unity and cohesion of the movement and its progress and strengthening.
