Speakers said the ground-breaking ceremony for the transfer of the naval base belonging to the U.S. forces command in south Korea is due to take place in a base of the naval operational command on that day.

Whenever they staged joint military exercises, the U.S. forces introduced to Pusan a nuclear carrier and a nuclear submarine and now it is even holding the ground-breaking ceremony to transfer the command to Pusan, the speakers said.

A series of such crimes as robbery, rape and violence have been reported nonstop this year, too, and the U.S. military base has become the source of the environmental pollution, they deplored.

If the project is pressed forward, they will mount a massive anti-U.S. movement, terming the U.S. forces a group of criminals and robbers, they stressed.

They warned that they would form an all-citizens movement headquarters and wage protest against the transfer of the U.S. naval base which turns Pusan into crime-woven area exposed to environmental pollution.
