Songun Politics Guarantees Peace, Independent Reunification: Rodong Sinmun
Pyongyang, August 28 (KCNA) -- Songun politics serves as an ever-victorious treasured sword and a great national banner the truth and validity of which were proved in hewing out the independent destiny of the nation thanks to the peerlessly great persons of Mt. Paektu.

Rodong Sinmun says this in an article Wednesday.

It is the politics for national independence which helps reliably defend the dignity and sovereignty of the country and nation and the politics for peace as it fully guarantees peace and security on the Korean Peninsula, the article notes, and goes on:

If the dignity and sovereignty of a country and nation are to be defended, it is necessary to have the force for guaranteeing them. Dignity and sovereignty can not be protected by words only. This is the immutable truth proved by history and the present situation.

It is impossible to achieve national reconciliation and unity, independent reunification, peace and prosperity unless peace and security on the Korean Peninsula are protected. But for the DPRK's war deterrent for self-defence provided by the Songun politics, a war would have already broken out on the peninsula.

The Songun politics reflects the magnanimity which draws without distinction all those who want to contribute to national reunification, irrespective of their ideology, social system, political view and religious faith. It also reflects the immovable will to take the road of reunification to the last, together with those who once joined it, holding their hands.

The Songun politics is a patriotic one for defending the dignity, security and interests of all Koreans not only in the DPRK but in south Korea.

The DPRK holds aloft the banner of Songun to decisively foil the outsiders' moves for aggression and defend and achieve interests common to the nation. Herein lie the validity and invincible might of Songun politics opening up the way of carving out the destiny of the nation.
