Anniversary of Korea's Liberation Marked by Koreans in Uzbekistan
Pyongyang, August 19 (KCNA) -- An event took place by Koreans in Uzbekistan on August 15, the 68th anniversary of Korea's liberation.

Kim Chil Song, first vice-chairman of the International United Confederation of Koreans, Ju Yong Il, chairman of the "Old Men" Association for Korean Cultural Tradition in Uzbekistan, Ko Tae Chun, its vice-chairman, and heads of various Koreans' art troupes and other Koreans were present.

Ju Yong Il in a speech said that the Korean people mark the 68th anniversary of the defeat of the Japanese imperialists and liberation of the nation under the leadership of Generalissimo Kim Il Sung.

He went on:

Korea's liberation ended the harsh colonial rule by the Japanese imperialists and brought genuine freedom and happiness to the Korean nation. This was a historic event which made our homeland a full-fledged independent and sovereign state.

Today the DPRK is strengthening friendship and solidarity with the world progressives while pursuing peace-loving policy. It is achieving great successes in building a thriving socialist nation.

The future of the DPRK is bright and a rosy future is in store for building a thriving nation and reunifying the country as the Korean people are led by Marshal Kim Jong Un.

There will be nothing impossible for the Koreans when they advance under the banner of "By our nation itself", the speaker said, calling for turning out for the reunification and prosperity of the country under the uplifted banner of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration.

Then there was an art performance by Korean artistes.
