Human Rights Abuses of Reunification Activists in S. Korea Blasted
Pyongyang, August 15 (KCNA) -- The south Headquarters of the Pan-National Alliance for Korea's Reunification (Pomminryon) and the People's Solidarity for the Repeal of the "National Security Law" held a press conference in Seoul on August 13 at which they denounced the puppet authorities' worsening human rights abuses.

The speakers said the acting chairman of the South Headquarters of Pomminryon and a member of its organizational committee who are now in custody are suffering from serious illnesses for which the authorities have not taken any measures of treatment.

They expressed indignation at the present regime which has thrown into prison those who worked for peace and reunification by invoking the "National Security Law", the worst law in history.

A press release was read out at the press conference which said the authorities' human rights abuses have gone beyond the tolerance limit.

Those in custody have devoted themselves to the reunification movement, not abandoning their idea and faith in the face of suppression by the "yusin" dictatorship. They had serious diagnosis from life-threatening illnesses. But the authorities have not accepted the demand for providing treatment to them.

The press release urged the human rights committee to play its role so that the reunification activists can receive medical treatment at an early date.
