Japan Hit for Reviving Militarism
Pyongyang, August 9 (KCNA) -- The south Korean newspaper Segye Ilbo in an editorial on Wednesday condemned Japan for its ever-stepped moves to revive militarism.

The editorial recalled that the Japanese government is working to promote the official proposal to get permission for the use of the flag of aggression symbolic of militarism.

It branded this as another play with fire aimed to revive militarism.

Clear is the intention of Japan in its try to use again the flag of aggression, it said, adding: Lurking behind this is the aim to call back the departed soul of the militarists in order to legitimate the so-called "right to collective self-defense" capable of attacking other countries and retrogressively revise the Pacifist Constitution. It is also related to the issue of converting the "Self-Defense Forces" into a regular army.

The editorial lashed out at Japanese ultra-right media for joining the government in its move to revive militarism.

Does Japan have no other flag that can symbolize it, the editorial queried, noting: Intolerable is the wrong understanding of history by the Japanese ultra-right political forces who seek to officially use the flag of aggression.

Japanese Cabinet ministers are mulling visiting Yasukuni Shrine, where mortuary tablets of the war criminals are kept, on upcoming August 15, the day marking the defeat of Japanese militarism. Japan is even showing signs of revising and abrogating Kono statement and Murayama statement which admitted even a bit the history of aggression.

The behavior of the Japanese ruling quarters will bring shame to Japanese and their descendants.
