KCNA Commentary Accuses Japan of Embellishing Its Past History of Aggression
Pyongyang, August 7 (KCNA) -- Shortly ago, the Japanese chief executive said each country has its own "pride" of its history and countries should, therefore, "respect it with each other."

Japan's talk about what it called "pride of history" is an undisguised praise of its past history of aggression, sophism urging the world community not to find fault with it.

This is an open challenge to the world public demanding Japan's apology and reparation for its past war crimes.

The Japanese imperialists' history of aggression against Korea and other Asian countries in the last century can never be a pride for the Japanese people.

It is because that is a blood-stained history in which the Japanese imperialists inflicted indescribably horrible disasters and sufferings upon humankind.

The wars fought by Japan were recorded with hideous criminal acts of wantonly violating the universally accepted international law and elementary ethics. They were characterized by the most monstrous crimes baffling human imagination in their means, methods and cruelty.

That is why the international community is simmering with anger at the history of Japan and strongly urging it to admit it and make apology and reparation for it.

Japan's trumpeting about "pride" of its inglorious history is nothing but a declaration of its intention to repeat its past history of aggression by reviving militarism.

As a matter of fact, Japan is leaving no means untried to instill the militarist idea into its people while giving spurs to the legal and military preparations for launching reinvasion.

Japanese politicians are busy agitating visits to Yasukuni Shrine, talking about "paying tribute to the departed souls". They went the lengths of crying for accelerating the "revision of the Constitution" the way the Nazis regime did.

As evidenced by its new "defence programme guidelines" published recently, Japan set it as its future strategy to exercise the right to collective defense through the "revision of the Constitution", found a defence army and have "access to capability for preemptive attack".

It is rushing headlong into militarization as evidenced by its moves to realize nuclear weaponization and militarize space, etc., zealously toeing the U.S. policy of expanding the missile shield in East Asia.

However, Japan's lurch to the right and militarization are sparking off vigilance and denunciation of the countries not only in Asia and other parts of the world as they escalate tension on the Korean Peninsula and other parts of the world.

How can such erroneous outlook of Japan on history and its above-said moves be its "pride" as it triggers off international isolation and condemnation?

Japan's honest settlement of its past is the only way of achieving harmony with the international community and carving out a rosy future.

Japan's future will get gloomier if it keeps swaying to the right and pushing forward its militarization for overseas invasion, oblivious of this stark fact.
