DPRK's War Victory Day Observed in Osaka
Pyongyang, August 5 (KCNA) -- A seminar of Koreans in Osaka celebrating the 60th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War took place on July 25 under the sponsorship of the Osaka Prefectural Headquarters of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon).

Present there were Pu Yong Uk, chairman of the headquarters, and officials and other Koreans.

Professor Ri Yong Su of Korea University made a report titled "On meaning of July 27 war victory and DPRK-U.S. all-out standoff".

He said the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War was a historic event as it protected the sovereignty of the DPRK and nation.

The national division continues in the Korean Peninsula and it is technically at war due to the U.S., he said, and went on:

The DPRK-U.S. all-out standoff is a historical struggle to put an end to the history of national distress caused by the imperialist powers, fully put into practice the idea of building a thriving socialist nation and build an independent world.

Then followed speeches.

Speakers denounced the U.S. for posing nuclear threat and blackmail against the DPRK while staging joint military drills.

The U.S. should roll back its hostile policy towards the DPRK and come out for concluding a peace treaty, they said, adding:

The DPRK's new strategic line of simultaneously pushing forward economic construction and the building of nuclear force is a realistic one as it ensures a maximum effect in the effort for developing the economy of the country and bolstering up national defence capability as required by the actual situation in Korea.
