Fate of U.S. "Ever-victorious" Generals in Korean War
Pyongyang, August 4 (KCNA) -- The Nigerian National Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea posted an article under the headline "Fate of 'Ever-victorious' Generals" on its website on July 23 to mark the June 25-July 27 month of anti-U.S. joint struggle.

In the Korean war the U.S. sustained a heavy defeat for the first time in history though it boasted of being the "strongest" in the world. The U.S. generals who boasted of being "ever-victorious" met a miserable fate in the war, it said.

An article under the subtitle "Dean captured prisoner" noted:

Dean, commander of the U.S. 24th division, dispatched the "Smith commando unit" to the area of Osan as an advance party in an effort to block the advance of the Korean People's Army (KPA) and ensure the operation of the main force of the division but the commando unit was wiped out in the battle with the KPA.

At that time he bragged he would set an example in Taejon and regain confidence, grumbling that the setback was the biggest shame on the great United States of America.

However, the 24th division was completely encircled and wiped out in Taejon by superb war methods of combined units of the KPA.

Dean was captured by a KPA soldier while running away in the private's uniform, without caring about the reputation of the "general".

An article under the subtitle "General Smith looking down at dead bodies" said:

The 1st division of the U.S. Marines intruded into Lake Jangjin in the northern part of Korea, boasting of being "flowers of the Marines." But it met a wholesale death due to the encircling offensive of the KPA.

This heavy fiasco gave Smith a nickname of "general looking down at dead bodies".

Another article under the subtitle "Death of Walker" was posted on the website. It said:

Walker commanded all the land operations of the "UN Forces" as a commander of the U.S. 8th Army in the early period of the war and drove its troops into massacring innocent Koreans in the areas under their temporary occupation. But he was trapped in the siege and mine warfare of the second front units of the KPA in the rear and met death while taking to flight with heavy tanks in the van.

An article under the subtitle "Tears of Clark" said:

Clark attempted to demonstrate the might of "UN Forces" and achieve truce with honor by launching a "new offensive" as the last gambling after his appointment as a commander of the "UN Forces". But his scenario completely went bust and was compelled to sign the Armistice Agreement little short of an instrument of surrender.

His mother was reported to have said when meeting him at the airfield that tears ran down his cheek with his upbeat spirit and appearance gone.
