Russian Political Party Calls for Peace Treaty in Korea
Pyongyang, August 2 (KCNA) -- The Party for Peace and Unity of Russia released a statement "On need to conclude a peace treaty in Korean Peninsula" on July 26, a day before the 60th anniversary of the Korean people's victory in the Fatherland Liberation War.

The statement said:

The situation in which the ceasefire, neither peace nor war, has persisted on the Korean Peninsula should not be allowed to go on as it is attributable to the moves of the U.S. to hold supremacy based on a new political strategy.

For six decades since the ceasefire in the Korean War the DPRK has made persistent efforts to replace the Armistice Agreement by a permanent peace treaty.

However, the United Nations disregards the DPRK's just efforts, reading the face of the U.S.

The U.S. has ceaselessly escalated the tension by using its lackeys, far from lending ears to the DPRK proposals for peace

The U.S. has staged unprecedentedly large nuclear war exercises, deliberately straining the situation to such phase as to make sovereign rights of countries to peaceful development of space questionable.

There is no need for the Korean people to keep the long bankrupt Armistice Agreement.

The Party for Peace and Unity of Russia calls upon the international community to pay attention to the DPRK and Korean people's decades-long proposals for replacing the Armistice Agreement with a durable peace treaty.

It fully supports the far-sighted foreign policy of the Workers' Party of Korea led by First Secretary Kim Jong Un.
