End to State of War Urged in S. Korea
Pyongyang, July 30 (KCNA) -- The south Korean internet newspaper Voice of People on July 27 posted an article calling for an end to the state of war on the Korean Peninsula.

The state of war has lasted on the peninsula since the signing of the Armistice Agreement (AA) on July 27, 1953, a thing unprecedented in human history, the article said.

The U.S. forces have stayed in downtown Seoul for six decades, exercising south Korea's right to command wartime operation, a wanton violation of the AA, it noted, adding:

To put an end to the state of war and establish a permanent peace mechanism on the peninsula is tasks to be carried out for the existence of the nation, and it is a historic task to be fulfilled by the nation to link the divided territory.

To this end it is necessary to bring an end to the U.S. interference and domination over south Korea as well as the humiliating south Korea-U.S. ties.

The article called for pooling efforts to conclude a peace treaty and achieve national reunification through the implementation of the June 15 joint declaration and October 4 declaration.
