Grand International Peace March Staged
Pyongyang, July 24 (KCNA) -- A grand international peace march took place from Pyongyang to Kaesong on Wednesday to demand the conclusion of a peace treaty between the DPRK and the U.S. and the withdrawal of the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK and support the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea.

A kick-off ceremony was held prior to the march.

Present there were foreign guests, the chief of the Pyongyang mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front and overseas Koreans staying in the DPRK including delegations and delegates of friendship and solidarity organizations of different countries and international bodies.

Also present there were Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Chairwoman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries Kim Jong Suk who is chairwoman of the Korean Committee for Solidarity with the World People, Choe Jin Su, presidium member of the Central Committee of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of Korea, officials concerned and Pyongyangites.

The co-chairman of the Asia-Pacific Regional Committee for Supporting Peaceful Reunification of Korea, in his speech extended a salute to the heroic Korean people celebrating the 60th anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War on behalf of the participants of the march.

Kim Jong Suk expressed belief that the participants would extend invariable support and solidarity to the Korean people dynamically advancing, holding aloft the banner of Songun, united close around the dear respected Kim Jong Un.

The start of the march was declared.

The participants marched to the tune of the music played by the women's brass band, prompted by the desire to positively support the struggle of the Korean people to foil the U.S. imperialists' moves for isolating and stifling the DPRK and achieve national reunification by concerted efforts.

People warmly welcomed foreign friends in streets.

The participants in the march visited Panmunjom that day.
