Kim Il Sung Leads Korean War to Victory (5)
Pyongyang, July 18 (KCNA) -- During the Fatherland Liberation War (June 1950-July 1953), President Kim Il Sung created a wave of unique war methods to counter the enemy's attack in the air and on the ground.

Typical of them were aircraft-hunting and tank-hunting team movements and the use of direct-firing guns on heights.

The aircraft-hunting team movement was aimed to overpower the U.S. air raids with all kinds of small arms as well as anti-aircraft guns.

He saw to it that such a kind of team was organized in all army units, indicating the ways for forming and arming the teams and arranging their firing positions.

The teams, together with air corps of the Korean People's Army, shot down nearly 3,000 enemy planes in two years.

The tank-hunting teams, organized on the order of Kim Il Sung in August Juche 40 (1951), attacked enemy tanks with anti-tank grenades or mines. A total of 200 tanks were destroyed in 1952 alone.

The sniper teams, organized on his order in each company of frontline units in November 1951, shot to death 16 890 enemy troops in a little more than one year.

The use of direct-firing guns on heights accorded with geographical conditions of Korea. It made it possible to pound the attacking enemies and their bases.

Such unique war methods greatly helped win the war against the U.S., who boasted of being the "strongest" in the world.
