DPRK Hit by Downpour
Pyongyang, July 17 (KCNA) -- Heavy rains swept through the DPRK from July 9 to 16.

According to data available, it rained during the days 518 mm in Kwangwon Province, 483 mm in South Phyongan Province, 428 mm in Pyongyang City, 359 mm in North Hwanghae Province, 328 mm in Nampho City, 257 mm in South Hwanghae Province, 253 mm in North Phyongan Province, 189 mm in South Hamgyong Province and 137 mm in Jagang Province.

In particular, from 21:00 Sunday to 24:00 Tuesday, 344 mm rainfall was recorded in Anju City, 280 mm in Mundok County, 253 mm in Kaechon City, 243 mm in Nyongbyon County, 242 mm in Pakchon County, 239 mm in Sepho County, 231 mm in Tongchang County, 219 mm in Unjon County, 207 mm in Chonma County and 202 mm in Sinyang County.

The torrential rain caused flood damage in various areas, leaving four people dead and one missing from 18:00 of July 13 to 18:00 of July 15.

More than 180 dwelling houses were destroyed or submerged across the country.

820 odd hectares of croplands were inundated in North Hwanghae Province while many roads and bridges were damaged in Songchon, Yangdok, Pongsan and other counties.
