Kim Il Sung's Warm Love for Army, People in Wartime
Pyongyang, July 12 (KCNA) -- During the Fatherland Liberation War (June 25, 1950-July 27, 1953) President Kim Il Sung showed warm love for the servicepersons and civilians despite difficult conditions.

One day he unhesitatingly crossed a railway bridge over the River Rimjin, unafraid of enemy night air raid, to see soldiers of the Korean People's Army.

He took a step to provide servicepersons with bean-sprout soup, personally teaching how to rear bean sprouts, and wore a pair of soldier's winter padded shoes for over one week in hot summer to learn about their quality.

He delayed the start of the Seoul liberation operation for fear of possible damage to citizens and their properties if it was launched at night. During the temporary strategic retreat on the part of the KPA, he saw to it that many pieces of logs were floated on a river for firewood of Seoul citizens.

Besides, there were a series of measures taken by the President to stabilize the people's livelihood in wartime.

Under his orders, many servicepersons were mobilized to carry a large quantity of salt to farmers, military materials used for people's living and a military airfield turned into a vegetable field.

Meanwhile he saw to it that relief committees for war sufferers were set up and schools for the bereaved or orphaned children built across the country.

Such warm love of the President served as source of the army and people's heroism displayed in winning the war.
