Software for Prevention of Flood Damage Developed in DPRK
Pyongyang, July 8 (KCNA) -- A software for prevention of flood damage has been developed by the IT Institute of Kim Chaek University of Technology in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

On the basis of overall survey and analysis of meteorological and hydrological data obtained in the basin of the River Taedong for scores of years, scientists of the institute set up three-dimensional geographical information system. The system confirmed all flooding locations across the country.

It was greatly conducive to reducing damage in flood-afflicted areas, including the estuary of the River Amnok and the basin of the River Chongchon.

The DPRK government gave commendation to the scientists who developed the software.
