Attending there were members of organizations including the Solidarity for Democracy, People's Life, Peaceful Reunification and Sovereignty and the Solidarity for Progress.

At the meeting, the speakers said that the statement was the first promise made by the south and the north for reunification since the division.

They said that the clarification at home and abroad of the three principles of national reunification--independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity--was of great significance in the nation's history.

The statement serves as the starting point for the south-north reconciliation, cooperation, peace and reunification, they held.

An appeal was read out.

It said that the course in which the statement was agreed upon at that time teaches truth that the south and the north can reach an agreement on reunification anytime.

The authorities should come out for dialogue with the north without any condition, it held.
