Press Release of June 15 All-Korean Committee
Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- A meeting of the chairmen of the north, south and overseas sides committees for implementation of June 15 Joint Declaration (June 15 All-Korean Committee) was held in Beijing from July 4 to 5 to mark the 41st anniversary of the historic July 4 joint statement.

A press release was published on July 4.

According to it, it was confirmed once again at the meeting that the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration serve as a basic principle of national reunification and a landmark common to the nation all the Koreans should invariably uphold till the day of national reunification.

The meeting agreed upon that the implementation of the joint declarations is the only way for mending the north-south ties and achieving the country's peace and reunification.

June 15 All-Korean Committee agreed to invariably uphold the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration as the banner of national reunification on the principle of independently solving the issue of the country's reunification.

It agreed to hold joint national events in Kaesong on the occasion of the 68th anniversary of Korea's liberation and on the occasion of the October 4 declaration and the Foundation Day of Korea with the attendance of all political parties, organizations and figures of various social standings desirous of national reconciliation and reunification.

It agreed to reopen the way of exchange and cooperation among people from all walks of life.

It agreed to make various efforts including a seminar on peace and reunification on the Korean Peninsula to this end on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Armistice Agreement this year.

Welcoming the offer made by the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea on June 6 in which it proposed the talks between the authorities of the north and the south and called for boosting humanitarian and cooperation undertakings such as the normalization of the operation of the Kaesong Industrial Zone, the resumption of tours to Mt. Kumgang and the reunion of separated families and their relatives, the Committee agreed to make concrete discussions as for the offer made by the south side committee to push forward various NGO-level undertakings.

The Committee agreed to actively push forward diverse solidarity activities and joint struggle to oppose Japan's distortion of history, its moves to seize Tok Islets and evade the crimes related to the sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army as well as the discrimination and politically-motivated suppression of Koreans in Japan.

It agreed to make necessary efforts to arrange the talks between the authorities for the resumption of tours to Mt. Kumgang and the reunion of separated families and their relatives and thus advance the relations between the authorities with the talks between the authorities of the north and the south slated for July 6 as a momentum.

It agreed to press ahead with diverse solidarity activities for national reconciliation, unity and reunification including the regular meeting of the chairmen to further solidarity and unity.
