A press release was read out at the conference.

It said:

On the same day, the Intelligence Service (IS) and the Police Agency searched houses and offices of members of the organization including Kim Ul Su, acting chairman of the South Headquarters of Pomminryon, and arrested its two leading members.

This action is a typical suppression by the security authorities as they invoked the anachronistic "Security Law" in a bid to evade the blame for having brought the inter-Korean relations to a collapse and tone down the anger of the people which was touched off by the IS's interference in the election.

We vehemently denounce the present "government" and security authorities for cracking down upon the headquarters, a pro-reunification movement organization, which has supported the exchange and cooperation and implementation of the joint declaration between the south and the north, not content with their acts of negating the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration and bedeviling the inter-Korean relations.

The civic and social organizations will never pardon the moves of the authorities to weather their crisis through crackdown, the press release declared, calling for dynamic actions to have the SL, the law against democracy, human rights and reunification, abolished and the repressive machines dismantled.
