Victorious Seoul Liberation Operation Conducted in Korean War
Pyongyang, June 28 (KCNA) -- In response to the strategic line of President Kim Il Sung on going over to a counter-attack, units of the Korean People's Army encircled Seoul City three days after the outbreak of the U.S.-unleashed Korean War (June 25, 1950-July 27, 1953).

On the evening of June 27, Juche 39 (1950), KPA Supreme Commander Kim Il Sung issued an order to launch an overall offensive, scheduled for the nighttime, in daytime in apprehension of possible damage to people's life and wealth and the national cultural heritages in the city.

The order could be given only by Kim Il Sung, who would put the interests of people above anything else.

Upon hearing the news after the city's liberation, the Seoul citizens were greatly impressed, shouting "Long live General Kim Il Sung!" in tears.
