International Community Urges U.S. to Conclude Peace Treaty with DPRK
Pyongyang, June 28 (KCNA) -- The world progressives are becoming vocal urging the U.S. to stop at once its hostile moves against the DPRK and accept the DPRK's proposal on replacing the Korean Armistice Agreement (AA) by a peace treaty.

Noting the proposal of the DPRK is not new, the Russian paper Tribuna said:

The DPRK has proposed a peace treaty with the U.S. many times since the armistice but the latter has always turned it down.

The DPRK declared the abrogation of the AA when the U.S. threat reached its height recently.

The situation on the Korean Peninsula requires the conclusion of the peace treaty but Washington is shunning it.

The Bulgaria-Korea Friendship Association in a statement condemned the U.S. and the south Korean regime for having violated the AA since its conclusion.

The vice-president of the Party for Free Motherland of Brazil said it is the stand of the DPRK that it can not abandon its nuclear deterrence unless the AA is replaced by a peace treaty and the U.S. nuclear threat is defused.

The vice-chairman of the France-Korea Friendship Association said: The peace on the Korean Peninsula is being harassed not by the DPRK but by the U.S. which seeks to dominate the world after putting the Asia-Pacific region under its control. Now is the time to immediately conclude a peace treaty for terminating the Korean War.

The Finnish paper Tyokansan Sanomat said that the danger of war on the peninsula is coming from the U.S. It can never be a country ensuring world peace as it has always been an aggressor, it added.

The Afro-Asian People's Solidarity Organization in a statement called on the Non-Aligned Movement and the world peace-loving people to urge the U.S. to conclude a peace treaty with the DPRK, normalize relations with it and respect its sovereignty.

The Japan Committee for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea stated:

The U.S. should not unnecessarily escalate tension on the Korean Peninsula but replace the AA by a peace treaty and pull its forces out of south Korea. This is the only way of ensuring peace on the peninsula.
