Japanese Imperialists' Massacre of Koreans during Great Kanto Quake under Fire in Seoul
Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- The solidarity of citizens for Korean victims in 1923 great quake in Japan and the committee for arranging the memorial service for the victims of the great Kanto quake held a meeting at the educational institution of the general assembly of the Christian Presbyterian Church in Seoul on June 20 on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Japanese imperialists' massacre of innocent Koreans in Japan during the great Kanto quake.

Kim Jong Su, permanent representative of the above-said solidarity, condemned the Japanese government for evading the responsibility for the massacre, distorting and whitewashing the criminal history of Japan.

Kang Tok Sang, honorary professor at Shiga Prefectural University, said that Japan's massacre of innocent Koreans during the quake was a product of Japan's discrimination against the Korean nation and its policy of hostility towards the nation, adding that such discrimination is still rampant in society of Japan.

Japanese personages conducted an investigation into such massacres as committed in Sumida Ward of Tokyo Metropolis, Yokohama City of Kanagawa Prefecture and Chiba Prefecture.

According to them, Koreans were massacred on the basis of the rumor spread by the then Japanese authorities that "Koreans set fire to houses" and "put poison into wells" right after the great quake occurred in Kanto area on Sept. 1, 1923.
