The work was published on June 23, Juche 62 (1973) at a time when the Korean nation faced the danger of permanent division due to the moves of the separatists at home and abroad to plot "two Koreas".

The work clarifies the five-point policy for national reunification which reflects the fixed will of the Workers' Party of Korea and the DPRK government to tide over the prevailing difficulties and usher in a new phase of national reunification.

Present at the meeting were Yang Hyong Sop, Kim Yang Gon, Ro Tu Chol, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Korean Social Democratic Party Kim Yong Dae, Chairman of the Pyongyang City People's Committee Cha Hui Rim, Director of the Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea Kang Ji Yong, Director of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of Korea Kim Wan Su, officials of social organizations, officials concerned and other people in Pyongyang.

Yang Hyong Sop, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, made a report.

The five-point policy for national reunification advanced by the President is the Juche-based programme for reunification and political great programme for national unity as it clearly indicates the way of shattering the moves of the separatists at home and abroad and reunifying the country independently by concerted efforts of all the Koreans on the three principles of national reunification, the reporter said.

With the advancement of the five-point policy for national reunification by the President, the Korean nation could wage a more dynamic struggle for national reunification with the clear goal and orientation, he noted.

The cause of national reunification pioneered and led by the President was successfully carried forward and developed by leader Kim Jong Il, the reporter said.

He called upon all the Koreans in the north, the south and abroad to wage a dynamic struggle for invariably preserving and thoroughly implementing the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, great programmes for reunification common to the nation and landmarks for peace and prosperity.
